A new batch

We gave our 1st litter of chickens away last week and Jason came home with a new batch of 4 chickens and 3 ducks. We are raising the chickens for a friend and then will find a nice pond for the ducks when they are old enough. The kids love having little animals to play with and I love having a home for them to go to when it's time for them to leave :).

The other day the kids were distraught because the brown ducks were picking on the smallest baby chicken. If Jason wouldn't have separated them I'm sure the little chicken would've been dead by the end of the day. It's one saving grace was the yellow duck who was acting as "mother" and trying to hide the baby chicken from the bullies. Strange.

Brandon took the yellow duck into the backyard to play for a little while. Every time Brandon would run the duck would chase after him. Brandon also put water in a frisbee and tried to teach him how to swim.

so fun! i think that's pretty neat that you guys do that. sad that other species have bullies, too, though.

fun park city getaway, too. :)

You definitely need to move to a farm for Jason. But then you'd probably end up with alot more animals than just ducks and chickens! They are pretty cute though.

So are the ducks and chickens pretty easy to raise? Looks like fun! I am guessing my hubby would not agree to this but what a great learning experience for the kids!

I think you should keep the ducks! At least the little yellow one!
